The various departments are connected by a central atrium, serving as the main entrance and orienting device. The two-story portion of the building contains the administrative departments. Offices are located at the perimeter and cubicles flank the inner service core. The Resource Lending Center and classroom are located directly off the central atrium providing educational opportunities to the general public. The 1 1/2 story tall auditorium, off the main entrance, allows for after hour functions while securing the remainder of the building. The single-story Early Learning Institute consists of nine daycare rooms, a multi-purpose room, kitchen, clinic, waiting area, administrative offices and a large playground. The exterior of the building is an elegant combination of traditional materials and contemporary forms. Brick, cut stone, and glass are richly fused with sweeping roof forms and rhythmic fenestrations to create a dramatic and timeless building.
