Terminal Area Hangar | St. Augustine, Florida The existing terminal building for St. Augustine Airport is oriented 45 degrees to U.S. 1. Its angles and sloping roof are symbolic of flight. This project fits within a very congested site adjacent to the existing terminal and the Grumman plant. The form of the building relates to the existing buildings. The project consists of a 2-story, 7,000 s.f. office building, a 10,000 s.f. showroom for the sales of aircraft with a 1,000 s.f. sales office, and four-3,840 s.f. corporate hangars. Since space is at a premium, the individual buildings and functions are treated as a single composition. Construction of the sales hangar and office buildings are conventional steel framing. The sales hangar is clad with metal panels and the roof is framed with bowstring trusses. The offices are composed of stucco on metal framing and glass curtain wall system. The corporate hangars are pre-engineered metal buildings.
